"I like to be on the edge of the possible."
Jørn Utzon

Passionate about buildings, architecture or applying your creativity and imagination to fun design projects?

Join Architect & Educator Louise O’Brien in these 4 monthly Saturday afternoon workshops for budding creatives.

Workshop series:

Saturday 26 February at 2pm

It could be said that Utzon created a new form of civic building and inspired a whole generation of architects and is still inspiring today. In this workshop be introduced to Utzon’s work and create an Iconic Opera House design using paper and curves and lines.

Saturday 26 March at 2pm

Part of the enduring appeal of Utzon’s work is the inspiration he took from nature. In this workshop explore this process, and design a Pavillion inspired by nature for the forecourt. Participants will do a site analysis, sketch and create models.

Saturday 28 May at 2pm

Some of the most dynamic architecture captures movement in a single moment. Explore Utzon’s designs and other examples of stage design to create your own installation for a set design at the Opera House for a dance or ballet performance.

Saturday 25 June at 2pm

Need some inspiration for a home build or renovation? Create a Sustainable Home inspired by Utzon’s house in Copenhagen, Mallorca and his time in Pittwater, channeling Utzon’s affinity with nature, materials and his design aesthetic. We will create a moodboard, sketch and draw in this session and create a house plan worthy of Utzon's genius.
