Gentle, structured and enjoyable
Dance for Seniors is an inclusive ballet class by The Australian Ballet, designed to teach dancing while giving an insight into their performance of Anna Karenina.
Both classes are designed for participants 60+, are active, and who are confident to take part in exercises in the centre of the room without support.
The exercises follow the barre and centre format of a traditional ballet class and are designed to build strength and mobility, improve balance, and increase hand-eye coordination, memory and musicality.
The Australian Ballet’s teachers are experienced in modifying the exercises to suit those with partial mobility, degenerative conditions or those who need some support with short-term memory. There will be many options available such as the use of a chair, barre or partner for support.
Carers or partners are welcome to take part and support and will need to purchase a separate ticket to do this.
Participants with a diagnosed medical condition should participate in accordance with their doctor's advice and chat to the teacher prior to class should they have any concerns.
Prior to the workshop, please notify us if you will need a chair for the session, so we can have those available. Please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
