What exactly will take place at the ‘The Night. Reimagined.’ installation?
Located on the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, ‘The Night. Reimagined.’ is an epic twostorey, 9-shaped labyrinth, featuring two kilometers of LED strip lights within a spiraling aperture structure. Before commencing your journey through the installation, you will be able to choose between two different pathways. Journey 1 will introduce participants to the AR Emoji experience to project their AR Emoji onto Luna Park and experience the Slow-mo Redefined features of the Samsung S9 and S9+. Journey 2 will lead visitors on an immersive, 90-metre light and audio soundscape experience, transporting them through the night and beyond.
How long will each experience last for?
Journey 1 will take approximately 30 – 45 minutes. Journey 2 will take approximately 10 – 15 minutes. Please note, this does not include queuing time.
What queuing time is expected on this experience?
We strive to ensure the very best experience for visitors. Vivid Sydney is one of the busiest times in the city. Large crowds and lines are expected but we will do our best to limit any wait times. We thank visitors for their cooperation.
Which Journey should I choose if I want to upload my AR Emoji on to Luna Park?
On entry, you will need to line up for Journey 1 in order to upload your AR Emoji onto the face of Luna Park.
Will I be able to see my AR Emoji from the Sydney Opera House Forecourt?
Given the distance from the Sydney Opera House Forecourt to the Luna Park face, you will be able to see the projection but not in great detail. For the best experience, we will have a live animation within the installation where participants will be able to see their AR Emoji being projected onto Luna Park. Each participant who goes through the AR Emoji experience will also be provided a digital souvenir of the experience (delivered to your smartphone).
Where should I go to take part in this activation?
The installation is located on the Sydney Opera House Forecourt.
It will open at 6pm each night of Vivid Sydney. High demand is expected and capacity is limited per night and we will do our best to limit wait times. Vivid Sydney is one of our biggest events of the year and we thank patrons for their cooperation.
What is happening at Luna Park?
Luna Park will display digital AR Emojis on the face of Luna Park from the Sydney Opera House Forecourt activation. Other Vivid Sydney light activity is taking place inside Luna Park. Please note, the activity inside the park is not part of the ‘The Night. Reimagined.’ installation.
Do I need to pay at entry or purchase tickets to take part?
No. This is a free installation. All participants will need to come along on the night and line-up at the entry point to the installation. A queuing system will be in place as high demand is expected and staff will be on site to reduce long wait times.
Can I reserve my place or register my details before I come along?
No – there is no pre-registration available. All participants who wish to take part will need to line-up at the installation entry point on the Sydney Opera House Forecourt no earlier than 5.45pm each night.
Will everyone in the queue have the opportunity to upload their AR Emoji on the face of Luna Park?
No. Only visitors who line-up for Journey 1 will be able to upload their personal AR Emoji onto the face of Luna Park. Journey 1 will have a maximum capacity of 1,000 permitted entry each night. Journey 2 will have an estimated capacity of 3,000 permitted per night.
What time should I get there to upload my AR Emoji?
Queuing for Journey 1 and 2 will open at 5.45pm each night of the festival. Staff will be on ground to advise participants when the activation is at full capacity and / or advise how long they can expect to be queuing.
Are children welcome to take part?
Yes. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times on both journeys.
Can I walk through the installation with my pram?
Yes. However pram space within the activation is limited to 1-2 prams in each activation at one time.
Can I bring food and drinks into the installation?
No. Food cannot be consumed within the activation.
Can I bring my personal photography equipment into the installation?
Yes. However please be aware places are limited so there will not be long dwell times.
What time will ‘The Night. Reimagined.’ finish each night?
Lights will be turned off at 11pm and all activity at ‘The Night. Reimagined’. installation will conclude at this time.
Is the installation wheelchair accessible?
There is wheelchair access for participants on Journey 1 and Journey 2; however, there is no wheelchair access to the balcony viewing area on level two of the installation.
Is there a place to secure bags/coats?
No. All attendees will be expected to keep their coats and belongings on them at all times while attending ‘The Night. Reimagined.’ installation.
