What is the City – EOI

What is the City but the People is a free community event featuring people who make up the fabric of the city marching on an open-air catwalk to collectively create a portrait of our city.

The live event is one of the opening events of the Sydney Opera House 50th Birthday Festival and is designed to showcase incredible diversity of local people and communities based on the theme of connection and care.

Inspired by the shared experience of emerging from the pandemic, this event is a moment of celebration and acknowledgement. It is designed to be inclusive – for everyone to see recognise something of themselves in the stories of those on the catwalk.

We are conducting an EOI for potential participants. If you would like to nominate an individual or group who has a story to tell about connection and care, please submit the form below.
