Corporate Services

Finance

The finance team is responsible for supporting all financial activities at SOH. We are organised into two teams.

Financial Planning & Analysis

This department provides strategic financial planning and commercial business advice and forecasts to the Executive, Managers and the Trust.   It owns and drives the financial planning and budgeting cycles in addition to provision of monthly management reporting (“MoMA”) and analysis.

Financial Operations

The Financial Operations team is here to support the business, and to provide accurate, timely information to our external customers. We are a group of committed professionals, who are always keen to find better, simpler ways to do business at the House, whilst upholding our important responsibilities around good financial control. We are responsible for day to day financial transactional tasks. We also undertake financial reporting, providing information to government, and have responsibility for the preparation of the annual Financial Statements. Financial Operations – day to day financial transactions, external financial reporting, payroll, procurement and process improvement projects.

Technology

Partnerships

The Corporate Partnerships team works hard to develop and maintain business opportunities that enhance our position as a leading performing arts centre in Australia if not worldwide. These business opportunities are established through identifying and securing partnerships with relevant organisations locally, nationally and internationally.

Philanthropy

While the Opera House is a publicly funded institution and a successful business (we self-generate around 85% of our operational revenues), it is donors who enable our initiatives across the Opera House’s programming and organisational programs.

The role of the Philanthropy department is to raise money through the generous support of individuals and trusts & foundations. Philanthropy helps us to broaden and deepen our arts, ideas, and indigenous programming; to enrich our community access programs for disability, disadvantage, education, and indigenous audiences; and to enhance our building programs.
