About Ben Marshall

Head of Contemporary Music at the Sydney Opera House and Vivid LIVE Festival Director, Ben has been working in Australia's music scene for nearly 20 years, bringing some of the most influential contemporary music artists to Sydney's shores.

Former solicitor-by-day, electronic music promoter-by-night, Marshall set up Intertia's touring division, bringing The NationalSiaGrizzly Bear and The xx to Australia for the first time. Under his curatorship, New OrderLordeBon Iver, and Florence + the Machine have all performed under the Sails, a testament to Ben's ambitious and forward-facing vision in nurturing contemporary music in Australia.

Where to stay?

Oliver Spencer - an English clothing label,  and Rough Trade East - a phenomenally good record store with tastefully selected stock, and super knowledgeable staff. It's an inspiring place to hang out.

Beigel Bake -  a 24 hour bakery on Brick Lane with unbelievable bagels, especially wonderful after a night out!
