Performance Buy Out Policy
Sydney Opera House is committed to the development of the performing arts and the access of arts patrons and visitors to venues for performances.
Sydney Opera House recognises, however, that there are circumstances where the buying out of performances from a presenting company for the use of either Sydney Opera House or a third party may occur. This policy also recognises that presenting companies may wish to sell whole performances to a third party.
The Buy out of whole performances is seen as a rare event and any buy out option will be by mutual agreement of Sydney Opera House and the presenting company.
Criteria for consideration of a full buy out option include:
- A business opportunity must be consistent with and further with Sydney Opera House core business and brand e.g., development of new audiences and markets
- A business opportunity must be consistent with the criteria outline in Sydney Opera House Public Activities Policy
- The buy out contributes to significant positioning of Sydney Opera House e.g., community, industry, etc.
- The buy out provides a significant financial return for Sydney Opera House
