"Evie loves music and she loves performance… it has completely dominated all of her imagination – she is so excited by everything", David says. "The fact that a little girl who loves seeing a show can see a show - a show with beautiful songs and colour and movement that tells a story, a fundamentally human story – that means a lot."
Please make your gift today to ensure that everyone in our community is able to enjoy their own Opera House experience.
By making a gift, you help ensure those who face the greatest challenges are able to have the same inspiring experience of the arts that we take for granted.
Through your gift today, children and adults who are deaf or have a hearing impairment can follow every word of surtitled, live-captioned or AUSLAN-interpreted performances, or hear every word, sound and musical note through induction hearing loops and assisted listening devices provided by the Opera House.
Your gift allows children and adults who are blind or have low vision to experience performances right alongside other audience members with a live commentary of the performance delivered by trained Opera House volunteers.
And for children and adults with intellectual or sensory disabilities or who are on the autism spectrum, your gift provides specially-designed performances in a supportive, relaxed environment, free of restrictions they might otherwise face.
The Opera House is a not-for-profit organisation: we are only able to offer these programs through the generous gifts of people like you.
Evie is just one of many children with disability whom our donors have brought to the Opera House. Please make your gift today to help give those living with hearing, vision, physical or developmental disability their own Opera House experience.
