Hopeful words for the future

Join multi-award winning, Melbourne based author Zana Fraillon as she shares her inspiration for writing, her research process and how she honours real life human stories when creating fiction.

Her novels The Bone Sparrow, The Ones that Disappeared, Wisp: A Story of Hope and The Lost Soul Atlas have won multiple awards including the ABIA Book of the Year for Older Children, the Readings Young Adult Book Prize and the Amnesty CILIP Honour. Her new book The Curiosities is inspired by people who see the world differently and who make it more wondrous. With themes of creativity, curiosity and neurodivergence, this is an essential book for every home, school and library.

Zana’s words are a powerful reminder for us to raise our voices for change and that storytelling has the ability to inspire hope for a better future.

Students will have the opportunity to submit pre-recorded questions for this digital talk. All questions are to be submitted to the Sydney Opera House by Monday 11 October. Further instructions on how to record and submit a question will be sent to you upon booking.
