In the Studio

“A story that forces us to confront our notions of beauty, leadership and compassion”

Andy Packer, Artistic Director of Slingsby Theatre Company

What kind of king would you be?

A naïve boy raised by goatherds turns out to be the heir to the kingdom. Untold treasures and privileges are laid at his feet, but at what cost to others? The achingly beautiful and tender language of Oscar Wilde is brought to life by award-winning theatre company, Slingsby. In this intimate theatrical experience, students will be taken on a journey to faraway lands replete with rich rewards and challenging choices. Upon entering the magical and whimsical world of The Young King they will become part of the story, interacting with the artists and each other. Featuring music and puppetry, this immersive play is a sensory delight for years 3 – 10.
