The Harbour

Pop-up fish & chip shop
4 Jan - 3 Feb

Fish and chips are on the menu this summer with the opening of The Harbour, a pop-up eatery on the Northern Broadwalk. We'll be serving sustainably-sourced fresh seafood, crisp-fried fish, golden crunchy chips, takeaway classics like potato scallops, all with a side of the best views in Sydney.

Open for a limited time only, The Harbour will transport you back in time paying homage to the original seafood restaurant that operated in the same location in the late 80s.

A look back at The Harbour

To celebrate Sydney Opera House's 50th anniversary The Harbour pays homage to the original Harbour Resturant that opened on the Northern Broadwalk in 1973.  Going by the same name, The Harbour was a self-service, family-friendly restaurant that offered no-fuss pre-show dining and champagne breakfasts from 11am.

By the late ‘80s the restaurant was revamped with a “seafood only menu” featuring crayfish bisque, mud crab salad and the ever popular fish and chips in beer batter.

The restaurant closed in 2001, replaced by the Opera Point Marquee, a large extendable functions space.

This ‘temporary solution’ remained on the Northern Broadwalk for 17 years, until it was removed in 2018 as construction of the Yallamundi Rooms commenced. The Yallamundi Rooms opened in 2019, and remains here today as a function and events space for the community.
