Take a front row seat on the Western Broadwalk and listen to live visual descriptions of this year’s images projected onto the iconic Opera House sails.

Registration is essential. Registration closes Friday 9 June, 4pm.

Running time approximately 30 minutes

This time is from when all audio-description headseats are collected and the tour finishes.

Sydney Opera House is excited to invite visitors who are blind or have low vision and their companions to join us for a personalised live audio-described tour of the Opera House’s Lighting of the Sails, Vivid LIVE’s most public event.

Take a front row seat on the Western Broadwalk and listen to live visual descriptions of this year’s images projected onto the iconic Opera House sails.

 

Lighting of the Sails: Audio Creatures

This year the Sydney Opera House will transform into an animated canvas for the breath-takingly imaginative Sydney creative Ash Bolland, who, working with Brazil’s foremost sound designer Amon Tobin and Sydney animation specialists Spinifex, will create a vision of colourful sea creatures and vibrant plant life. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take photos during the tour?

There are plenty of photo opportunities throughout the entire tour. Your tour guide will advise you whilst on tour if photographs are not to be taken inside any venues.

What time do I need to arrive before my tour?

It’s a great idea to arrive early, grab a drink and soak up the view. Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour to allow sufficient time to cloak any large bags.

If I am late for my tour what can I do?

If you are going to be late for your tour please call our Tourism Reservations team on 02 9250 7250 for assistance

What should I wear?

So long as you’re wearing shoes and a shirt, whatever you like. We’re pretty informal here at the Opera House. There’s no real dress code for for tours, so you’ll fit right in with casual attire. 

You’ll be on your feet for a guided tour, there are over 300 stairs, so flat comfortable shoes are recommended. Your feet will thank you! 

What are the transport options to the Opera House?

You can catch public transport (bus, train, ferry) to Circular Quay and enjoy a 6 min walk to the Opera House. If you’re getting dropped off in a car head to the roundabout at the bottom Macquarie Street where staff will direct you to a safe place to pull over.
