We’re excited to announce that we’ll be reopening tours from Thursday 5 November with a reimagined 1-hour guided tour where we'll take you beneath our sails to experience this World-Heritage masterpiece up close. Uncover the magic, untold stories, anecdotes and history from on and off the stage.
Be amongst the first to also venture into our new space to witness unforgettable moments from past Concert Hall performances, brought to life by a 270 degree immersive digital experience.

One of the most breathtaking buildings in the world, the Sydney Opera House is a masterpiece of creativity. With a Tour and Tasting Plate, we invite you to explore the Opera House's secrets and then sample the best of local dining - all on sparkling Sydney Harbour.
You will have the opportunity to visit some of the Opera House's many venues and theatres however please note the Concert Hall is currently closed as it is undergoing renewal works to improve theatre machinery, acoustics and accessibility. Tours run daily between 9am and 5pm
Places sell out in advance, we recommend you book early to guarantee your placeA Sydney Opera House tour departs every 15 or 30 minutes, with the last tour departing at 5pm. Tours run every day of the year except Christmas Day and Easter’s Good Friday.
The tasting plate component of the tour is available after your tour at Opera Kitchen between 11.30am and 8:30pm.
Please note that bookings are only available in multiples of 2 due to the shared nature of tasting plates.

This time is from when one of our guides meets guests from the Welcome Centre, through to the end of the tour which finishes in the Opera House Entry Foyer. After your tour enjoy your tasting plate for two at Opera Kitchen at your leisure.

This tour is for those with a good level of fitness
On the Sydney Opera House tour you will climb around 300 steps as you move throughout foyers and spaces. While there are railings and a number of rests throughout the tour when the guide shares our stories, you will not have the opportunity to sit for any long period of time during the 1 hour tour. Opera Kitchen
Perched beside the most famous sails in the world with uninterrupted views of the famed Harbour Bridge, Opera Kitchen provides innovative and creative food for all tastes. The tasting plate presented in two tasting boxes includes fresh seafood, mini burgers and succulent salads, and is designed for two people to share. No reservations are needed and you can enjoy your tasting plate for two after your tour anytime between 11.30am and 6pm.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I take photos during the tour?
There are plenty of photo opportunities throughout the entire tour. Your tour guide will advise you whilst on tour if photographs are not to be taken inside any venues.
What time do I need to arrive before my tour?
It's a great idea to arrive early, grab a drink and soak up the view. Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour to allow sufficient time to cloak any large bags.
Please note we are unable to cloak bags larger than A4 size.
If I am late for my tour what can I do?
If you are going to be late for your tour please call our Tourism Reservations team on 02 9250 7250 for assistance.
Are there vegetarian options available on this tour?
Yes, a vegetarian tasting plate for two is available to be selected on the day.
What should I wear?
So long as you’re wearing shoes and a shirt, whatever you like. We’re pretty informal here at the Opera House. There’s no real dress code for this tour, so you’ll fit right in with casual attire.
You'll be on your feet for a guided tour, there are over 300 stairs, so flat comfortable shoes are recommended. Your feet will thank you!
What are the transport options to the Opera House?
You can catch public transport (bus, train, ferry) to Circular Quay and enjoy a 6 min walk to the Opera House. If you’re getting dropped off in a car head to the roundabout at the bottom of Macquarie Street where staff will direct you to a safe place to pull over.

There is only 1 of me, can I still attend by myself?
The tasting plate is designed for two people to share. If you are traveling solo, we recommend choosing from one of the many other items of the menu at Opera Kitchen.
Will the building works at the Opera House affect the tour?
You'll notice that Sydney Opera House has building works underway. These works will not impact your visit, it’s business as usual!
Do ensure that you arrive at Sydney Opera House at least 15 minutes before your tour to collect your tickets. For more information head to the Renewal pages.
