The health, safety and wellbeing of everyone at the Opera House is always our top priority. There are a number of COVID safe measures in place on site to help keep our community safe:

  • Face masks are strongly recommended for all patrons while inside our theatres and foyers, including during the performance. Please bring your own mask;
  • Well maintained and effective air conditioning systems that maximise ventilation with fresh air;
  • Regular cleaning of high-traffic and high-touch areas with hospital-grade disinfectant;
  • Hand sanitiser stations with Dettol Aloe Vera Gel are available in paths of travel, frequently accessed areas and near bathroom facilities; and
  • COVID-19 safety training for all operational, frontline and contract staff.

Please check this page prior to attending the Opera House for the most up-to-date information.

Our lifts are still operational and our signage stipulates that less-mobile visitors are given priority use. If you need any help when on site, please speak to a member of the Welcome Team who will be happy to assist you.

Are there restrictions on the number of people allowed in each theatre?

Performances are being sold to 100% capacity in line with the NSW Public Health Order. This includes all shows in the Concert Hall, Joan Sutherland Theatre, Studio, Playhouse, Drama Theatre and Utzon Room. Please note that you will be seated directly alongside other ticketholders. Performances and workshops in the Centre for Creativity will adhere to a maximum capacity of 1 person per two square metres.

  • 目前场地容量已限制至75%。从12月1日起,根据新南威尔士政府的重新营业计划,部分演出将会售至场地100%容量。请注意,您可能会坐在别的观众旁边。
