Useful information:
The visionary diva of experimental pop makes her long awaited debut
Few voices have defined the modern avant garde pop landscape like the Venezuela-born, Barcelona-based singer, producer and conceptual artist. Arca’s approach was distinctive enough to be immediately recognized when she produced music with such icons as Björk, Kanye West, FKA Twigs and Frank Ocean, but has blazed her own trail across a series of singular, genre-smashing solo albums. At long last, the wait is over as Arca is headed to Australia for a fever dream multidisciplinary performance in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall for Vivid LIVE.
Queering the stereotyped tropes of electronic music with her studio albums Xen (2014), Mutant (2015) and Arca (2017), the pioneering artist made waves with an experimental sound that embraced electronic fluidity and explored gender identity – particularly after coming out as non-binary in 2018 – creating music she once described as “a transmission broadcasted into this world from a speculative fictional universe.” Across 2020 and 2021, Arca released an ambitious cycle of densely layered, wildly extravagant electronic pop on the records Kick I through IIII, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album in the process. In 2023, she opened for Beyoncé’s iconic Renaissance tour and appeared in a video interlude during the performances.
This is a visionary audio-visual experience from an era-defining talent you won’t want to miss.
