Award-winning singer-songwriter is back in Blak for her Vivid LIVE headline debut

In just over a decade, Meanjin-born singer-songwriter and Gamilaraay woman Thelma Plum has become one of the country’s most beloved singer-songwriters, racking up a string of awards and hit records, and blowing away audiences with her powerful live performances. After her triumphant set with Paul Kelly at the Sydney Opera House Northern Broadwalk in 2022, the Indigenous star returns to Vivid LIVE, performing her first ever headline show for the festival at the Joan Sutherland Theatre.

A gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist, Plum won Triple J's inaugural National Indigenous Unearthed Music award in 2012, when she was barely out of high school. She followed it up with the EPs Rosie (2013) and Monsters (2014), before her debut album – 2019’s smash Better in Black (2019) – launched her into fully fledged national stardom. A hard-hitting, emotionally honest collection that included contributions from no less than Paul McCartney and Paul Kelly, the top-five record yielded a slew of ARIA nominations and gold and platinum singles – including “Homecoming Queen”, “Clumsy Love” and the top-10 Hottest 100 title track, which sparked national conversations around race and Indigenous representation. Plum’s 2022 EP Meanjin – a love-letter to her hometown which featured the hit “Backseat of My Mind” – won Album of the Year at the National Indigenous Music Awards, while her 2023 single “We Don’t Talk About It” – her first new music in more than 12 months – returned her to the Hottest 100 and stoked anticipation for her forthcoming album.

Anyone who’s seen Plum on stage – from her inspiring set at Vivid LIVE to her soaring show at Hanging Rock in 2022 – knows she’s one of the country’s great live performers. Here’s your chance to experience her headline debut at the Sydney Opera House. One night only.
