Australia’s baddest new rap star makes her Vivid LIVE debut

Vv Pete is the baddest boss in town – and she’s ready to burn up the stage at Vivid LIVE. With her commanding flow, club-rattling beats and eclectic musical palette, the Mount Druitt-based Sudanese rapper and singer has sparked a wildfire of hype on the local hip-hop scene, dropping instant bangers and playing sets at Listen Out Festival, Denzel Curry’s Australian Tour, FBi Radio’s SMACS Fest and SXSW Sydney.

While spitting impressive bars as a teenager, Vv Pete caught the attention of Sydney crew OneFour and Sydney-based Trackwork label head Utility, and drew early comparisons to the likes of Stefflon Don, Missy Elliott and Lizzo. Pretty soon her 2022 debut single “Bussit” was everywhere – including a spin on New York’s legendary hip-hop station, Hot 97, and a needle drop on hit series Heartbreak High. Teaming up with long time collaborator producer UTILITY and electronic music don Cassius Select their fierce track “Frauds” (2022) quickly becoming a Sydney cult classic, and with Utility for last year’s “Jordan 1s” a Jersey-influenced heater sassed with a platinum hook and Pete’s peerless flow. Apple Music listed the track as in the Top 100 songs of the year, and FBi Radio awarded it Song of the Year, while also naming Vv Pete Best Live Act. On “BACARDI PAPÍ”, the young star pivoted to the club with a throbbing baile funk workout, co-produced by reggaeton musician – and Beyoncé’s Renaissance collaborator – Kelman Duran.

With a much-anticipated debut mixtape on the way, this breakout star is about to serve up a feast – and the Varvies are eating. This is her Vivid LIVE debut.
