Sydney’s psych-noise punks make their Vivid LIVE debut

From burning up the city’s underground scene to unleashing their wild, visceral energy on the global stage, Sydney noise rock duo Party Dozen have come a long way since forming back in 2017, releasing four blistering records of experimental punk, a string of singles plus touring and collaborating with the likes of Amyl and the Sniffers and Nick Cave. With their latest release Mad Rooter/Ghost Rider teasing a forthcoming album this year, the psych-noise duo are back home to headline their very first Sydney Opera House show for Vivid LIVE.

A shape-shifting duo whose sonic experimentation knows no limits, Kirsty Tickle (saxophone) and Jonathan Boulet (percussion and sampler) attracted early attention for their electric fusion of genres and furious punk drumming, a combination that whipped live audiences into an unhinged frenzy. After two albums on their own label (and the memorably strange single Auto Loser) they blew up with 2022’s The Real Work, which featured a collaboration with none other than Nick Cave (Macca The Mutt) and earned the band an Australian Music Prize nomination. Led by the single Coup De Gronk, 2024’s J Award-nominated Crime In Australia saw Party Dozen pushing their sound into exquisitely dissonant terrain, while the duo went on to play scorching shows at Meredith, Pitchfork Festival and with Amyl and the Sniffers, Lambrini Girls plus King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

With their dizzying discography and taste for semi-improvisational live performance, Party Dozen promises to be among the wildest shows at Vivid LIVE.
