The long-awaited return of the master Australian multi-instrumentalist

An extraordinary multi-instrumentalist whose work focuses on the exploration of the guitar, Australian musician Oren Ambarchi is a prolific solo artist and consummate collaborator who has performed and recorded with the likes of John Zorn, Fennesz, Jim O’Rourke, Sunn O))), Merzbow, Keiji Haino, Boris and many, many more.

An endlessly inventive and fascinating musician, his highly developed and abstracted instrumental language exists in the spaces between modern electronics and processing, liminal improvisation, minimalism and rock music.

Since the 1990s, Ambarchi has been at the vanguard of experimental sound, releasing a string of critically revered albums on labels such as Touch, Editions Mego, Drag City, PAN, Kranky, Staubgold and Tzadik, and composed music for acclaimed dance and theatre productions.

This is Ambarchi’s first performance at the Sydney Opera House since 2002. You won’t want to miss it.
