Generational bedroom pop talent makes his Sydney Opera House debut

As prolific as he is eclectic, the multi-talented, Nevada-born singer-songwriter Nick Rattigan has charted a course through lo-fi bedroom pop and experimental sounds for more than a decade, as both a member of indie rockers Surf Curse and his genre-bending solo musical project, Current Joys. After an electrifying debut show at The Factory Theatre in 2024, Rattigan brings Current Joys back for his hotly anticipated Sydney Opera House debut, playing one night only in the Joan Sutherland Theatre.

Emerging from the lo-fi bedroom pop scene in the early 2010s, Rattigan made waves with his first release, the beloved Wild Heart (2013) and songs such as New Flesh and Blondie, before debuting the Current Joys moniker for his 2015 smash, Kids. Across his wildly diverse discography, Rattigan has moved between lo-fi indie pop, twangy guitar rock and experimental sounds, from the melancholy beauty of A Different Age (2018) and the sprawling LOVE + POP (2023) albums to the country-infused, transcendental folk of East My Love (2024).

With over a billion streams and a fiercely devoted fanbase, Current Joys is set to be one of the festival’s hottest tickets.
