Get wild and weird with gravity-defying beats and dubbed-out sounds

Sydney party people DUNJ return to Vivid LIVE for another wild night of bass and beats in the Studio, with guest stars Carrier – aka Antwerp-based mutant techno genius Guy Brewer – plus Bristol’s eclectic shapeshifter Yushh and local avant garde electro artists gi and Autogenesis.

Since launching with a series of DIY events back in 2012, DUNJ have expanded to a thriving community of DJs, producers and promoters dedicated to sharing their deep love of big speakers and bone-rattling bass. The beloved Sydney crew – which includes Alec Sander, 9toe, Swisherman, Jas Peters, Ridds, Ma Lo, Sonny Whu and Mighty Healthy – have covered the spectrum of underground dance music, from deep dubstep, jungle, drum ’n’ bass and UK bass music through to tripped-out techno, breaks and trance-infused doof and played host to a huge roster of international stars.

This year they’re joined at Vivid LIVE by Carrier, the latest mutant techno project of Antwerp-based genius Guy Brewer. From his pioneering explorations of drum ’n’ bass in the mid-’90s to his moves into dub techno (as Shifted), minimalism, drone and rhythmic noise, Brewer has never stopped searching for cutting-edge new sounds. His debut album as Carrier, the phenomenal Rhythm Immortal (2025), exploded genre conventions, drawing inspiration from the likes of Photek and Basic Channel’s Rhythm & Sound to transform electronic music into entire new shapes.

Bristol left-field favourite Jen Hartley – better known as Yushh - is a DJ, producer and entrepreneur who has been releasing music (via Rhythm Section International, Wisdom Teeth and Well Street Records) and running her eclectic label Pressure Dome since 2019. Her wonderfully atmospheric, dubbed-out compositions reflect the dizzying range of her influences, from garage and dubstep to euphoric four-on-the-floor and experimental techno.

Bubbling up out of Sydney’s avant garde underground spaces, gi – aka Gigi De Lacy of art punks Optic Nerve – and Autogenesis are at the forefront of the city’s most thrilling, knife-edge electronic sounds. gi’s latest release, Thought Makes Music, is a chaotic trance of frantic rhythms and otherworldly sounds, while Autogenesis explore the far fringes of generative sound design, blending dark atmospheres with glitched intensity and psychedelia.
