About SF3

SF3 (the SmartFone Flick Fest) is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious smartphone film festivals, redefining what’s possible in modern cinema. We’re an international celebration of creativity, open to filmmakers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, from first-time storytellers to Oscar winners, from every corner of the globe. All you need is a great idea and a smartphone or tablet.

At SF3, we believe the future of filmmaking is in everyone’s hands. We provide a powerful global platform for budding, emerging and professional filmmakers to bring their stories to life and share them with audiences everywhere – no big budget, no fancy gear, just pure creativity. The democratisation of filmmaking isn’t coming, it’s here, and SF3 is leading the charge.

Beyond the screen, SF3 is a world leader in smartphone filmmaking education. Throughout the year, we deliver dynamic filmmaking and screenwriting workshops both in-person and online via Zoom, inspiring students from age 4 to 79 and beyond. Our education partners include NIDA, Blacktown Council, WIFT NSW, Milk Crate Theatre, Bus Stop Films, Accord, the Shepherd Centre, Film By, the Justice and Equity Centre and many more local councils and arts organisations.

SF3’s reach is truly global; our workshops and collaborations span Australia, Africa, the Americas, Europe and Asia, including programs in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Ethiopia, Jamaica, India and more. Wherever there’s a phone, there’s a filmmaker, and SF3 is here to help them shine.
