Lo-fi indie rocker Alex G makes his Sydney Opera House debut

From lo-fi indie prince to recently emergent king of the hi-fi dad rock crossover, singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Alex Giannascoli – better known to the world as Alex G – has charted a journey through intimate, richly melodic pop and a surprisingly muscular sound. With his latest album, Headlights, riding a wave of critical acclaim and commercial success, the Pennsylvania native is making his return to Australia to play one night only in the Concert Hall.

As a gifted teenager whose DIY recordings echoed the sound of Elliott Smith and Built to Spill, Giannascoli garnered online buzz in the early 2010s with early records Trick (2010) and Race (2012), released a string of beloved albums on Domino, including Beach Music (2014), Rocket (2017) and House of Sugar (2019), and collaborated with superstar Frank Ocean on 2016’s Endless and Blond. In 2024, he scored the critically adored film I Saw the TV Glow, and this year made his major label debut with the electrifying Headlights, an album Pitchfork dubbed “worthy of the all-time indie graduations.”

Don’t miss this chance to catch indie pop royalty – in the city’s most iconic venue.
