Real creativity in an artificial world

The AI backlash just got real. Polls show us a majority of us don’t want it and science tells us it will shrink our cognitive abilities. How do we push against the great cognitive decline and protect our creativity?

In this lively conversation, the internet’s favourite self-proclaimed Chief Critical Thinking Officer Shae O Omonijo joins the University of Sydney’s Daniel Browning, Sophie Gee and Reuben Rideaux to discuss the slow erosion of critical thinking and ask what it takes to stay human in the age of AI.

Somewhere between our complete submission to the inevitability of AI and its polar opposite - a wholesale rejection of it - lies a sweet spot where we preserve our creativity and our critical judgment. How do we find that? How can we become the agents of our own future and ensure we do not cede our powers of problem-solving, mistake-making and random unexpected discovery and continue to create strange new things and engage critically with our world?

In an uncertain, attention-fracking and artificially intelligent world, this talk promises light at the end of the tunnel.
