Enjoy a few drinks overlooking the magnificent Sydney Harbour before you take your seats for our new New Year’s Eve gala.

The Opera Gala is a wild journey through the world of opera with a distinctively Australian flavour. Expect plenty of laughs and surprises as we bring a new lens to beloved opera classics.

Watch the 9pm fireworks sparkle during the interval, and after the show, make your evening even more special with tickets to our exclusive Midnight Party. Held in the Northern Foyers of the Opera House, this event includes drinks, canapés and entertainment — and of course, a great vantage point for Sydney’s famous NYE fireworks.

So go on, make this your most glamorous New Year ever.

The Sleeping Beauty

Ten years after its spectacular premiere, David McAllister’s opulent production of The Sleeping Beauty returns to whisk you away into a magical realm of fairies and spells, good versus evil and a royal romance. Accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score, The Sleeping Beauty is a dreamlike vision, evoking ballet’s golden era with traditional choreography and extravagant designs. The gilded set stands alongside over 300 bespoke costumes, wigs and fairy wings, designed by the award-winning Gabriela Tylesova.
