The National frontman makes his solo Australian debut

More than 25 years and countless multi-platinum albums into his career, singer-songwriter Matt Berninger – the beloved frontman and lyricist for indie rock superstars The National – makes his long awaited solo Australian live debut, playing one night only in support of his newest album Get Sunk in the Concert Hall for Vivid LIVE.

After a string of era-defining releases with The National – including Alligator (2005), Boxer (2007) and Trouble Will Find Me (2013) – Berninger released his first solo album in 2020, Serpentine Prison, showcasing his instantly recognisable baritone with a laid-back style. Produced by the legendary Booker T. Jones, the album received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Recording Package.

Following a period of depression and writer’s block, Berninger relocated from Los Angeles to Connecticut and returned with Get Sunk (2025), a beautifully textured, emotional deep dive that reaffirmed his gift for capturing life in all of its complexity.
