You’re invited to a dance party inspired by Sydney Opera House’s upcoming show GATSBY: At The Green Light. Get ready to learn toe-tapping jazz moves and dazzling choreography for people of all dance abilities.

This soirée promises to be a dance riot! Step into this dance workshop with choreography inspired by GATSBY: At The Green Light. Welcoming people of all dance levels to beginners, it will be an energising and outrageously fun afternoon. Expect to move and toe-tap your way through iconic Jazz choreography. Come solo or bring a group of friends!

Bring a water bottle and wear whatever you're most comfortable. Or, do one better and come in your most elaborate, sequin covered and ravishing outfit! No previous Dance or Theatre experience is necessary. Facilitators will guide participants in movement exercises and activities that meet their physical movement levels. Please bring shoes you can take off, as this workshop is best done barefoot!

Meet the artist

Cat Ralph

Cat has been dancing her whole life, and teaching for half of it. She is intensively trained in a wide variety of styles - from ballet to hip hop, from Fosse repertoire to latin styles - which has greatly influenced the versatility of her choreography and personal style.

Cat recently finished touring in the ensemble of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat that showed at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne, followed by the Capitol Theatre stage here in Sydney.

Within the musical theatre realm, she has also played iconic dance roles in musicals such as Charity in Sweet Charity (Arcadians), Cassie in A Chorus Line (So Popera Productions), Annie in Chicago, Cha Cha in Grease, and the Cyd Charisse originated role of the Broadway Soloist in Singin’ in the Rain.

Teaching-wise, Cat is a regular fixture on the Brent Street full-time course schedule, as well as Sydney Dance Company’s theatre and jazz open classes.
