This concert invites the audience on a journey through the world of art songs, featuring works from Italian, German, English, and Chinese traditions. Italian art songs showcase flowing melodies and stunning vocal lines, embodying bel canto elegance. German Lieder blend poetry with expressive melodies and dramatic piano to evoke deep emotions. Award-winning British vocal ensemble, The Tallis Scholars are renowned for their stunning cappella performances and exquisite recordings of sacred vocal music. The choir first sang at the Sydney Opera House in 1985, 40 years ago, and has returned five times since.
