A charismatic art-pop star returns in all his glory

Making his Sydney Opera House debut, Grammy-nominated American art-pop star Perfume Genius brings his songcraft and emotional anthems to the Concert Hall for one night only.

The singular voice of Mike Hadreas – aka Perfume Genius – moves effortlessly between confessional indie, shimmering synth pop and off-kilter Americana. Riding a creative high and fresh from some of the best reviews of his career for his latest album, Glory, he returns to Australia for an unforgettable evening.

With a catalogue that spans shimmering ballads, sensuous glam rock and avant garde pop, Hadreas has earned a reputation for his unflinching exploration of trauma and healing, poetic honesty, and an uncanny knack for connecting with the emotions of his audience. On records like his 2010 breakthrough debut Learning to 2017’s Grammy-nominated No Shape and the ecstatic liberation of Set My Heart on Fire Immediately, Hadreas reshaped the sound of pop, collaborating with artists including Bronski Beat and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs along the way. A return to his indie roots, this year’s Glory has drawn glowing praise from audiences and critics alike with the Guardian calling it what “may well be Hadreas’s best album to date.”

Following his performance at Carriageworks for Vivid LIVE 2022, Perfume Genius returns to Sydney for one night only, bringing his charismatic art pop to the Concert Hall for a show not to be missed.
