Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an account/password to make my gift?

For your security, you are asked to use your Opera House login and password when you make your gift.

If you do not have an account you can create one when you make your gift.

If you have an account and have forgotten your password, it's easy for you to reset it yourself. Click the link in the top right hand corner of our site that says "Login." When you do, enter your email address and click "Forgot your password?"Our system will then send you an email with a link that will allow you choose a new password for your account. For security reasons, we are unable to access your password.

I am having trouble making my gift. What do I do?

To protect you, we have security measures in place to guard against fraudulent transactions. Some common reasons for why we might not have been able to process your donation include:

  • The billing address you entered does not match the billing address associated with your card.
  • The security code entered does not match the one on your card.
  • The expiration date entered has either passed or does not match what your bank has on record.
  • Your bank has declined the charge.

We encourage you to submit your donation again, checking that your billing address and credit card details are correct.  If you have any difficulties, please contact us at the details at the top of this page.

How do I change or cancel my regular gift?

If you need to change or cancel your regular gift, login here. You can click "Stop/Cancel Recurring Donations" so that no more gifts will be processed on your card. You can set up a new recurring donation at any time if you change your mind. If you have any difficulties, please contact us at the details at the top of this page.

How can I get a copy of my gift receipts?

Your original receipt was emailed to you when you made your gift. If you do not have your receipt, please contact us at the details at the top of this page and we will send you a copy of your receipt/s.

 

About my gift

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes, Your gift of $2 and above is tax-deductible in Australia (ABN 69 712 101 035). More details here.

How will my gift be used?

Your gift helps treasure and renew our World Heritage listed site, to keep delivering the Opera House's outstanding performances, and to help everyone, regardless of social circumstance, have their own life-changing Opera House experience. More information is here.

How will my gift be recognised?

Your gifts of $2 or more are acknowledged in your name (first and last name, unless requested otherwise) on the Opera House website and in the Annual Report.

Can I keep my gift anonymous?

We invite you to make your gift publicly to encourage others to share your love of the Opera House. If you prefer your gift to remain anonymous, it’s easy to let us know: each time you make a gift, you will receive a gift confirmation, and you can change your preferred recognition by contacting us at the details at the top of this page.

Can I make my gift by PayPal, Android Pay or Apple Pay?

We do not yet accept gifts by PayPal, Android Pay or Apple Pay.

We hope to offer all of these in coming months.

Can I make my gift by Direct Debit?

Yes, for details of how to make a single or regular gift by direct debit, please contact us at the details at the top of this page.

Can I give through my workplace?

Yes, for details of how to make a gift through your workplace’s payroll department, with an immediate tax benefit to you and no need to keep or find tax receipts, please contact us at the details at the top of this page.

 

My security & privacy

Are my personal details and credit card details secure?

Yes, your gift is processed using our 128-bit secure server and any personal information you send will be protected by SSL encryption. We also store sensitive user data, such as credit card details and account passwords in encrypted format. We are compliant with international Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) and with the NSW Government Digital Information Security Policy. Are my details private?

Yes, we have a comprehensive privacy policy that provides a transparent view of how we handle your data, including how we use your data, who we share it with, and how long we retain it. Sydney Opera House is a NSW statutory body with a governing Trust appointed by the NSW Governor and nominated by the NSW Minister for the Arts.
