Joyce Yang returns to Sydney to perform Prokofiev’s dazzling and virtuosic Third Piano Concerto, while rising American conductor Ryan Bancroft leads Sibelius’s expansive First Symphony and a work by Sydney composer Alice Chance

Brace for a program of intense beauty, anguish and catharsis led by American conductor Ryan Bancroft, “one of the most interesting conductors of his generation” (HBL Musik).

Joyce Yang is a pianist of striking brilliance. And Prokofiev’s thrilling Third Piano Concerto gives her every chance to dazzle.

In Sibelius’ First Symphony you can feel the world standing still. High shimmering strings swell into an expansive soundscape, stirring deep contemplation and excitement.

Through Changing Landscape by Sydney composer Alice Chance is a poignant opener, reflecting on the journey of an individual through the landscape of their lifetime.

Presented by Sydney Symphony Orchestra
