Part talk, part performance, in Listen to This Benjamin Northey explores Elgar’s Enigma Variations and the mystery that has enthralled audiences for more than a century

In this special concert format, conductor and presenter Benjamin Northey explores Elgar’s captivating Enigma Variations and what makes it so compelling, demonstrated by performances from the Orchestra side-by-side with musicians from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney.

Northey explains how Elgar’s wonderfully English masterpiece is held together, and how the iconic Nimrod variation seems to hit harder because of its restraint.
