Behzod Abduraimov returns to Sydney to perform Rachmaninov's glorious Second Piano Concerto, while the Orchestra brings Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling masterpiece Scheherazade to life

Rachmaninov’s Second unfolds with sweeping lyricism: a slow movement of heartbreaking beauty, a finale that earns every note of its triumph. In the hands of Behzod Abduraimov, ‘the most perfectly accomplished pianist of his generation’ (The Independent), this is music of vast emotional scale and melodic richness.

Led by conductor Gustavo Gimeno, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade spins four vivid scenes from One Thousand and One Nights into a dazzling orchestral showpiece. Lush, cinematic and endlessly inventive, it remains one of orchestral music’s great storytelling spectacles.
