Out of this world collaboration

Second show available at 6pm

Two beloved artists in a new duo: international star violinist returning home, Emily Sun, and multi-ARIA-winning guitarist Slava Grigoryan, playing Piazzolla, Paganini, Locatelli, de Sarasate and a premiere by Andrew Howes.

It’s a joy to welcome the premiere of a new partnership between two rightly prized Australian artists, and to hear for the first time what’s firing their combined imagination.  The alchemy between these instruments, repertoire and personalities highlights the singing warmth of Emily Sun’s violin, and the ardent lyricism of Slava Grigoryan’s guitar.  Together, they’re a perfect match for bravura works by Niccolò Paganini, Astor Piazzolla, and Pablo de Sarasate.  And in contrast, Peitro Locatelli’s filigree sonata, and the world premiere of a serene work written for Emily and Slava by young Sydney composer, Andrew Howes. Together they offer audiences new perspectives and new sounds to relish.

This performance is made possible with the support of Bundanon.

Presented by Sydney Opera House
