An oud virtuoso

Yasamin Shahhosseini has developed her own approach to the oud through years of practice and a deep connection to Persian classical music and Dastgāh music. She became familiar with this music at a young age, and gradually found her path as both a player and a composer.

She has performed internationally and has collaborated with different ensembles while exploring new possibilities for the instrument. Her first solo album, Gahan, was released in 2015 by Kherad Art House Records, featuring pieces composed by her in the field of Persian Dastgāh music.

This performance offers a chance to hear the oud in an intimate setting and to experience her individual voice within the music.

Sydney Opera House thanks Event Partner Pommery, Idealist donors Ezekiel Solomon AM, Ingrid Kaiser, Sheli Lubowski, Dr Eileen Ong, and Patsy Crummer for their support of Utzon Music.
