An oud virtuoso performs her own exquisite compositions

Renowned for her technical virtuosity and the seamless way she incorporates Iranian traditions into her own contemporary musical language, Yasamin Shahhosseini is one of the world’s foremost oud virtuosos. She distinguished herself from an early age as both an exemplary bearer of her classical Persian music traditions as well as a highly skilled composer.

She performs regularly in her own country as well as internationally and is renowned for her work with a variety of innovative ensembles, exploring and expanding the possibilities of her instrument. She released her first solo album, Gahan, on Kherad Art House Records in 2015. The album features Shahhosseini’s exquisite compositions that drew on traditional Persian scales while revealing a contemporary sound that is all her own.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the eloquent sound of the oud in the intimate surrounds of the Utzon Room.
