Access the House

Our goal at the Opera House is to provide barrier-free access, making the site, building and the experiences they offer accessible to all people. We provide a range of access services and performances for people who are blind or have low vision, for people who are deaf or have a hearing impairment and for people with physical disabilities. We also offer multi-sensory performances for those with intellectual disabilities and those on the autism spectrum.

The entrances to the Studio, Playhouse, Drama Theatre and the Utzon Room are all wheelchair accessible. A public lift operates from the Lower, Ground and Upper Levels of the building.

There are accessible toilet facilities available in the Western Theatres Foyer and Box Office Foyer. Accessible seating is available in all venues however this must be pre-booked and availability is limited so booking early is recommended.

There are 11 designated accessible parking spaces on Level 1 and 12 on Level 6 of the carpark. RMS permit is required. FM assistive-listening devices (headsets and neck loops) are available at the cloaking desk for use in all venues except the Utzon room which has a hearing loop system.
