Frequently asked questions

Can I purchase tickets in person at the Box Office?

Advance ticket purchases via phone and online is strongly encouraged to access the limited available seats and minimise contact.  Ticket purchases and collection at our Box Office is discouraged and eTicket or postal delivery methods should be used, wherever possible. Tickets can be purchased via the Opera House website or by contacting the Box Office team on 02 9250 7777.

Why can’t I book tickets in the quantities I want?

In order to maintain physical distancing within venues, tickets will mostly be sold in multiples of two, however limited allocations of single tickets and odd numbered groupings of tickets will also be available. Tickets may also be sold in single seat patterns for certain events. At all times, we will do our best to support your needs, but please bear in mind that this will be subject to the restrictions in place at that time.

Will I receive a refund for a cancelled performance?

Patrons with tickets to cancelled performances are entitled to a full refund.  You may also choose to exchange your tickets, receive a credit note (valid for three years from the date of issue), or donate all or part of your ticket value. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. The Opera House will contact you directly to make arrangements.

What are my options if a performance is rescheduled?

If a performance is rescheduled to a time at least two hours before or after the original start time, you will be provided with the option to receive a refund, exchange your ticket for the new performance date, or to convert the refund value to a credit note (valid for three years from the date of issue).

Can I collect my tickets from the Box Office before a show?

It strongly encouraged that you print your tickets at home, or have them accessible on your mobile device. We will be using contactless scanning to check tickets at the entrance to the venue. The box office will be open for customer support, however minimising contact where possible is requested.

I can no longer attend because I’m unwell, I’ve been in contact with someone displaying symptoms, or I can’t travel from my location. What are my options?

If you feel unwell, stay home and do not attend the Opera House. Further information about our flexible ticket options is available further up on this page.
