If you can no longer attend due to COVID-19
The health and safety of everyone at the Opera House is our top priority. A number of COVID safe measures are in place for the safety and wellbeing of everyone on site.
If you are no longer able to attend, please contact our Box Office no later than two hours before the event begins on 02 9250 7777 or bookings@sydneyoperahouse.com.
Options for you may include:
Exchanging your tickets for a different future performance of the same production or tour, subject to availability. If you exchange for a lower value ticket, we will refund you the difference in the ticket price. If you exchange for a higher value ticket, we will charge you the difference in the ticket price, subject to availability.
Exchanging your tickets for a different production by the same Presenter that is currently on sale at the Sydney Opera House, subject to availability. If you exchange for a lower value ticket, we will refund you the difference in the ticket price. If you exchange for a higher value ticket, we will charge you the difference in the ticket price.
If a ticket exchange is not available, we may issue a credit note for the value of your ticket to be used towards the purchase of tickets to a future event staged by the same Presenter at the Opera House.
Alternatively, where there may not be future performances by the Presenter of your original tickets, we may be able to issue you with a Sydney Opera House gift voucher for the full value of your ticket with a validity period of three years from the date of issue, which may be used for future productions at our site.
Please note
Unless required by law, refunds will be considered at our discretion on a case-by-case basis. We may require reasons and/or evidence supporting your request for a refund, and we appreciate your understanding.

Advance ticket purchases via phone and online is strongly encouraged to access the limited available seats and minimise contact. Ticket purchases and collection at our Box Office is discouraged and eTicket or postal delivery methods should be used, wherever possible. In order to maintain physical distancing within venues, tickets will mostly be sold in multiples of two, however limited allocations of single tickets and odd numbered groupings of tickets will also be available. Tickets may also be sold in single seat patterns for certain events. At all times, we will do our best to support your needs, but please bear in mind that this will be subject to the restrictions in place at that time.
Patrons with tickets to cancelled performances are entitled to a full refund. The Opera House will contact you directly to make arrangements.
If a performance is rescheduled to a time at least two hours before or after the original start time, you will be provided with the option to receive a refund, exchange your ticket for the new performance date, or to convert the refund value to a credit note (valid for three years from the date of issue).
It strongly encouraged that you print your tickets at home, or have them accessible on your mobile device. We will be using contactless scanning to check tickets at the entrance to the venue. The box office will be open for customer support, however minimising contact where possible is requested.
