Bell Shakespeare

2023 Season

Bell Shakespeare returns to Sydney Opera House in 2023 with some of Shakespeare’s most popular works.

First up in 2023 is Macbeth – the portrait of a tyrant who is able to describe his hopes and fears in some of Shakespeare’s most visceral language. With Hazem Shammas as Macbeth and Jessica Tovey as Lady Macbeth this will be a production that delves into the politics, the deception and double-speak of Shakespeare’s most haunting thriller.

Next up is Twelfth Night, directed by Heather Fairbairn. This is a comedy from the height of Shakespeare’s career, a story about unrequited love and self-obsession. Twelfth Night is a play full of music and song, and this production will feature original composition by Australian singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko.

And over the harbour, at Bell Shakespeare’s The Neilson Nutshell, Jacob Warner and Rose Riley star as tragic, star-crossed lovers in the perennial favourite Romeo and Juliet. This will be an intimate, raw and contemporary production, giving audiences the chance to get close and personal with this great play.

Join Bell Shakespeare for murder, betrayal, love, and some songs in 2023.
