David Lynch's savage fairytale for the truly fearless

USA | 1990 | English | Thriller | R18+

Adapted from Barry Gifford’s pulp noir novel, Wild At Heart pairs Twin Peaks-era David Lynch with the winning combo of Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern as young lovers on the run throughout the American South.

Masterminding the chase is Lula's crazed mother (played by Dern’s mother, Diane Ladd) who, desperate to keep them apart, hires a hit man to kill Sailor. As the pair tumble from one bizarre scenario to another, they cross paths with the menacing figure of Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe) who lures them further into the dark underbelly of contemporary America.

Taking home the Palme d’Or at Cannes, Wild At Heart throws audiences a highly combustible mix of Lynch’s dreamlike style, bold tonal shifts and Nic Cage in full-throttle unhinged mode. Rockin' good news for all.
