Sydney Philharmonia Choirs

2023 Season

VOICE. ENERGY. JOY.

In 2023 Sydney Philharmonia Choirs invite you to find your voice, energy and joy in the rich banquet of music they have to sing for you.

There’s JOY in music from across the ages, from Handel to Broadway, and in the Christmas programs of Bach's Christmas Oratorio and family friendly Carols at the House.

There’s ENERGY in the great choral blockbusters like Orff’s Carmina Burana and Verdi’s Requiem, as well as exciting new works like David Lang’s Little Match Girl Passion and James MacMillan’s Stabat Mater. Sydney Philharmonia Choirs are also thrilled to present the premieres of Elena Kats-Chernin’s Human Waves and First Nations composer James Henry’s Murrgumurrgu.

And there’s VOICE – the voice of passion, the voice of faith and inspiration, and the voices of their incredible singers who all volunteer their talent and time to create the sound that fills our hearts and souls. And your voice too – in ChorusOz: Mahler 8, Festival Chorus and Christmas Choir – choirs you can join and experience the incredible life-changing joy of singing in a choir.

Bach’s Christmas Oratorio

The Christmas Oratorio is easily one of the most inspired musical enactments of the Nativity. Brett Weymark has chosen the first three parts, from the exultant opening to the tender scenes in the stable and the festive arrival of the shepherds.
