Adobe Symposium

Sydney Opera House CEO, Louise Herron was a keynote speaker at the 2016 Adobe Symposium where she presented the transformation that’s underway of the Sydney Opera House’s digital experience. In 2017, the Sydney Opera House will host the Adobe Symposium.


EnergyAustralia is one of Australia’s leading energy retailers. The company provides gas and electricity to more than 2.6 million residential and business customer accounts across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory.

As one of the country’s leading energy businesses, EnergyAustralia supports the communities in which it operates, running a community grants program designed to improve amenities in local communities. EnergyAustralia was also the first energy company to launch a Financial Inclusion Action Plan aimed at helping vulnerable customers achieve financial security.

Headquartered in Melbourne, EnergyAustralia is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CLP Group, one of the largest publicly-owned integrated power businesses in the Asia Pacific.

EnergyAustralia is the Sydney Opera House’s energy supplier. The two companies have also entered into a major partnership to help the Opera House to deliver its Environmental Sustainability Plan (ESP). Launched in August 2017, the ESP outlines a series of long-term sustainability goals for the Opera House including carbon neutrality, a 5-Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia and 14 per cent energy savings.

Under the two-year partnership agreement, the Opera House and EnergyAustralia will collaborate with national science agency CSIRO on a new industry think tank. Led by EnergyAustralia, the think tank will focus on:

  • Delivering a strategy to enable the Opera House to achieve Net Zero (carbon neutral) certification by 2023 – a key objective of the Opera House’s ESP.
  • Identifying and implementing sustainable energy solutions to be trialed by the Opera House as part of its long-term carbon-reduction strategy.

Through the partnership, it is hoped the national icon will become a test case for emerging technologies that could be adopted by households and organisations across Australia that want to operate in a more energy-efficient and sustainable way.

The partnership between Sydney Opera House and Google has been about developing projects that inspire people through art, amplified by digital technology.  Some of our past collaborations include Sydney Symphony Orchestra, The Cube, Live at the House and The Binoculars. One highlight is Google Cultural Institute, this is a collection of 50 online exhibits that weaves together rare archival photography, celebrated performances, early architectural drawings, historical documents, little-known interviews and Street View imagery to tell the story of the Opera House in an entirely new way

Partnering for the first time in in 2017, The Sydney Opera House and Westpac partnership will celebrate Australia’s rich First Nations culture, as well as shining a spotlight on the issue of gender equality. 

Under the two-year agreement, Westpac will be Event Partner for Homeground, the Opera House’s annual celebration of First Nations art and culture. Westpac will also provide support for All About Women, an Opera House festival held in March each year to explore ideas and issues that matter to women.
