Discover what it's like to be an author and illustrator

Join award-winning author and illustrator Sophie Beer for a look at her creative process, career journey, and the stories that have captured readers' hearts worldwide. Known for her bright, inclusive, and kind-hearted books, Sophie has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, from Disney to The Guardian. Her books, have been published in multiple languages and have reached nearly a million readers. In this talk, Sophie will share insights into her journey as an author and illustrator, from her early inspirations to her latest projects, including her debut novel Thunderhead. Drawing from personal experiences, Sophie will explore how life events, like her journey with hearing loss, have shaped her storytelling. 

If your students have a question they would like to ask, you will have the opportunity to record it and send it in for Sophie to answer on the day. Questions must be sent no later than 17 April 2025. Further instructions on how to do this will be sent to you upon booking.
