Hear from the creator of hit musical FANGIRLS
Yve Blake is a playwright, screenwriter, and songwriter, born and raised on Gadigal land.
She's best known for writing the Book, Music and Lyrics for the musical FANGIRLS, which has been awarded the 2019 Sydney Theatre Award for Best Mainstage Musical, 2019 Matilda Award for Best Musical or Cabaret, 2020 AWGIE award for Music Theatre, 2021 Green Room award for New Australian Writing for Musical Theatre, and also scored an ARIA nomination for Best Original Soundtrack or Musical Theatre Cast Album.
In this interview, our host will speak with Yve about her creative process, her inspirations and how she went about writing the Book, Music, and Lyrics for FANGIRLS.
This talk is perfect for aspiring writers, musicians, and creatives, offering a unique opportunity to learn from one of Australia's most innovative and successful young artists. Whether students are interested in musical theatre, songwriting, or simply love a good story, Yve's insights and advice will inspire them to dream big and pursue their own creative paths.
If your students have a question they would like to ask, you will have the opportunity to record it and send it in for Yve to answer on the day. Questions must be sent no later than 20 February 2025. Further instructions on how to do this will be sent to you upon booking.

All you need is an internet connection! Schools can connect through Youtube in an internet browser however works best for your students (as a classroom or on individual computers).
The viewing link will be emailed to you in advance of the event.

Our on-demand program, including performances, workshops and talks, are available for a minimum of 10 days after the premiere. This gives you greater flexibility to watch at a time and date that’s convenient to your class. To ensure your students get the most out of the experience, a Teachers’ Resource Pack is available for most programs. We recommend using these resources in advance of your digital excursion.
For the Digital Talks Program, your students can record their questions for the speaker and send them to us in advance of the talk. The details of how to do this will be emailed to you by our Creative Learning Team.
As the program is non-interactive, you can book for as many students as you like - a whole school booking of 500 or a single home learner - all are welcome and can be accommodated!
