Can we disagree without becoming divided?

For the first time, two of the world’s leading thinkers come together to explore how disagreement – when handled with courage and care – can help shape a more creative, connected society.

Join Rt. Hon. Dame Jacinda Ardern, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and author of A Different Kind of Power, and Anna Funder, acclaimed author of Wifedom and Stasiland, as they address the political divisions that have become more common at home and abroad, carving a path for a more creative and inclusive future.

As part of The University of Sydney’s Conversations for Good series, Ardern and Funder will discuss the importance of challenging ideas without dehumanising each other, and how we can listen deeply while remaining open to difference – a vital discussion for those seeking connection in an increasingly fractious society.

Hear how the courage to sit with discomfort in the face of diverse opinions can help us navigate crisis and create the conditions for creativity, progress and connection.

This event will be hosted by the University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor, Mark Scott.

Presented by Sydney Opera House and The University of Sydney

A civilised society is one in which people are not afraid. They are not afraid that if they speak the truth, or their mind, they will get the sack
