On the occasion of the performance season of I Wish, an acrobatic collaboration between Adelaide’s Gravity and Other Myths and Patch Theatre, join one of Australia’s most exciting physical theatre and circus Artistic Directors, Darcy Grant in an afternoon of conversation.

Inspire your physical theatre and circus practice

Join Darcy Grant as he shares his insights on and lessons learnt from artistic collaboration, to inspire your creative projects. Deep diving into his artistic journey and current practice, Darcy will share concepts for devising developed through working with Geoff Cobhan (Patch Theatre) and unpack how when you place exciting design tools in great artists hands, great content emerges.

This talk is suitable for emerging, mid and senior level artists interested in devised physical theatre and circus collaboration.

Meet the artist

Darcy Grant Artistic Director Gravity and Other Myths (Australia)

Darcy Grant is a classically trained acrobat, award-winning fine art photographer, physical theatre director and founding member of Circa, revered as one of the world’s most adventurous, genre-defying circuses. He has trained, taught and toured work on the cutting edge of New Circus to some of the world’s most prestigious venues. Where theatre, dance, circus and visual art meet is where Darcy likes to practice. His visual aesthetic is foundation and scaffold to his show making. In 2017 Darcy was commissioned by Adelaide International Arts Festival to direct Backbone by Gravity and Other Myths. The show premiered to 5-star reviews and standing ovations, also attracting three Helpmann Award nominations including Best Choreography and Best New Australian Work. Darcy regularly shoots live performance for companies such as Opera Australia and The Farm and has had solo photographic exhibitions in Brisbane, Melbourne and Berlin.
