A workshop for babies and their carers to play, rest and create

Púuna – Carers as first curators workshop is a welcoming, hands-on space for new parents and their babies ages 0 - 2 to create, connect and share stories. Participants learn appliqué techniques to create layered fabric clothing, guided by sustainable textile practices and culturally inspired design.

Developed by Cairns based artists and mothers, Lia Pa’apa’a and Johannah Maza, Púuna (meaning “to grow in a circle” in Luiseño language) is a creative response to the powerful proposition: that carers are the first curators of culture.

Connect with other families in this gentle workshop. The circle is open, come and grow with us.

Each participant will receive a free baby onesie or singlet, and appliqué kit, to take home and finish their creation.
