A space for babies and their carers to play, rest and create

Developed by Cairns based artists, and mothers, Lia Pa’apa’a and Johannah Maza, Púuna – to grow in a circle is a space designed for parents, carers and their babies aged 0-2, inviting them to play, rest and create.

The Púuna workshop is a welcoming space for new parents to create, connect, and share stories. Guided by gentle textile practices, participants explore the art of appliqué to craft layered fabric clothing inspired by cultural and value-based design. This hands-on workshop celebrates creativity, kin, cultural expression, and the beauty of making together.
