Caroline Polachek announces final Sydney headline show at the Opera House

Due to overwhelming demand, the Sydney Opera House is thrilled to announce Caroline Polachek has added a final Sydney headline performance in the Concert Hall on Monday 4 December, 2023.

Polachek is an American singer, songwriter and producer who has garnered a reputation for her willingness and ambition to work the boundaries of pop music and experimentalism. Finding critical acclaim with her 2019 debut solo album Pang, Polachek makes her first visit to Australia and the Sydney Opera House with ‘The Spiraling Tour’ in support of her second album Desire, I Want To Turn Into You, released earlier this year and earning her 175M+ global streams to date.

We could not be happier to welcome Caroline Polachek to her triumphant debut Sydney Opera House performance. Her romantic and fearless explorations of pop’s transformative potential have seen her virtuosic solo career deservedly soar into the stratosphere, and her captivating vocals will sound absolutely sublime in the Concert Hall. Don’t miss one of the concerts of the summer from one of today’s most inventive and compelling artists.” said Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall.

If 2019’s Pang was an ephemeral, crystalline document of risking everything for new love, Desire… is Polachek turning up the temperature and trading tight narrative for visceral tone-poetry. Desire…features cult hit single ‘Bunny Is A Rider’, which premiered as Annie Mac‘s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 and gained universal praise from the likes of The New York Times, The Guardian, The Fader, NME, and was named Best Song of 2021 by Pitchfork. It was followed by the dazzling ‘Billions’, the Spanish-themed ‘Sunset’, ‘Welcome To My Island’, and latest offering ‘Smoke’, all further proof Polachek is one of the most fascinating artists in the new generation of pop disruptors.

In 2022 she supported Dua Lipa on her US arena tour, and followed up in 2023 with a global headlining tour – selling out venues like Radio City Music Hall in New York, The Greek Theatre in LA, and Hammersmith Apollo in London. She has also appeared at almost every prominent music festival, including Coachella, Glastonbury (two years in a row), Fuji Rock and Lollapalooza and will bring her stunning live show to the Opera House as part of her national Australian tour presented by Frontier Touring & Penny Drop.
