Welcome the Year of the Snake with the internationally acclaimed Hong Kong String Orchestra. Led by virtuoso Yao Jue, the 25-piece ensemble brings a masterful fusion of Eastern and Western classical music to life, performing beloved works by Vivaldi alongside traditional pieces.

Hong Kong String Orchestra's Australian debut

The internationally acclaimed Hong Kong String Orchestra will make its highly anticipated Australian debut to welcome the Year of the Snake with an unforgettable celebration of music.  

The 25-piece ensemble, renowned for its masterful fusion of Eastern and Western classical music, will captivate audiences with a unique program that blends beloved Western classical works by Vivaldi alongside traditional pieces that honour the rich cultural heritage of the Lunar New Year.  

Audiences can expect a nostalgic touch with iconic Hong Kong music from the 1990s, including music from the popular TV drama Blossoms Shanghai (繁花) , and timeless hits like Beyond’s No More Hesitation (不再犹豫) and Zhang Xueyou’s Stolen Heart (偷心), capturing the charm and energy of Hong Kong’s vibrant pop culture.

Award-winning British vocal ensemble, The Tallis Scholars are renowned for their stunning cappella performances and exquisite recordings of sacred vocal music. The choir first sang at the Sydney Opera House in 1985, 40 years ago, and has returned five times since.

In this concert she draws out the vast power of these works, alongside Australian pianist Andrea Lam and the virtuosity of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
