Event details
Choir on the Steps runs over four nights with two choirs performing each night. The choirs will each perform a 20 to 30-minute set (approximately).
Choirs begin at 6:30pm and we recommend you arrive early to grab a good spot.

Choir on the Steps is a free event for everyone to enjoy.
Event duration is a guide only and may be subject to change.
There will be limited seating for those who have mobility needs.
Children aged 15 years and under must be accompanied at all times.

Explore the line-up
Since it was founded in 1920, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs has brought people together through music, and for over five decades has been the heartbeat of choral performance at the Sydney Opera House.
Under the leadership of Artistic and Music Director Brett Weymark OAM and Associate Music Director Dr Elizabeth Scott, it is Australia’s premier choral organisation with more than 2000 singers across six ensembles giving around 50 performances annually throughout Sydney and beyond.

River City Voices, Greater Parramatta's only auditioned symphonic choir, is an innovative arts organisation delivering choral programs of excellence closer to home that reflect and engage its diverse community and their stories.
Led by Artistic Director/Principal Conductor Dr Sarah Penicka-Smith since 2019, River City Voice’s 75 singers and professional creative team champion Western Sydney's vast and unique talent, engaging a broad network of local artists, audiences and stakeholders through signature Luscious, Local and Brave programs, public workshops and events.

Soulfood a Cappella is an auditioned, Sydney-based choir, with 50 fantastic voices singing fresh arrangements of pop classics from the last 50 years, and is led by Artistic Director Melissa Kenny.
Last year Soulfood celebrated their 20th anniversary with a trip to Auckland, New Zealand to compete in the World Choir Games, where they won the Open Pop Choir category.

Harmoni Choirs exists to bring people together through the shared joy of singing. Their choirs are places where singers are supported, challenged, and inspired - where people of all backgrounds come together not just to rehearse, but to connect and create something meaningful.
Harmoni Choirs sing a range of music from pop to folk, from world music to classical. Nothing is off the table as long as it brings beautiful singing into the world. Every piece is curated by Musical Director, Alex Pringle.

Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir (SGLC) is a non-auditioned, inclusive choir welcoming LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies of all musical backgrounds, led by Music Director, Adam Majsay. Since 1991, SGLC has championed diversity and harmony through vibrant performances across classical, pop and contemporary genres.
With around 180 active members, the choir is a proud voice in Sydney’s cultural landscape, performing locally and internationally while fostering community, joy and musical excellence.

Endeavour Harmony Chorus has become well-known as Australia’s premier female a cappella ensemble. Formed in 1996 with 25 members, the group now has 60 singers from throughout the Sydney area. They have won national accolades in choral singing including the prestigious Australasian Community Choir championships four times, and the Australian Choral Grand Prix.
Education in singing and performance is an important part of chorus life. Musical Directors Lea Baker and Karen Ramirez provide vocal instruction each week at rehearsals.

More than a choir, Moorambilla Voices is a unique arts organisation that seeks to empower children and young people to think big, dream wide and connect to country through an annual multi-arts program of skills development workshops, cultural immersions, residencies, tours, recordings and concerts.
The small and dedicated team is led by award-winning Artistic Director Michelle Leonard OAM.

No. When you arrive at the Opera House, make your way to the Monumental Steps where you will be able to enjoy the free performance.
A limited number of seats will be available for people with mobility needs on a first come first served basis.
While you cannot take chairs on to the Forecourt, you are able to bring a picnic rug to sit on.
